Thanksgiving

 John Crowder and I went to Dustin and Michelle Barbare. It was a nice dinner.

 Went to Mon to visit and took her to Legends Birthday party.

Redcross Hurricain Helene North Carolina Shelter

 Red-cross deployed me to North Carolina

Thursday Went from Pocatello to Salt Lake to Charolett, North Carolina. I was assigned a car but asked not to drive it was unknown area and it stressed me. I saw these 3 people waiting to rent a car and they had red-cross shirts on so I asked were they were going. They were headed to my hotel. Town-place suites in Ashville is the hotel I stayed in the first night.  They were an answer to my prayers. I felt lost and didn't know what to do next. One of these women took the car assigned to me. The other two took me in there car.

Friday We all went to the headquarters  were we were assigned to the shelters we to  serve in.  There a new couple that drove me to the Clayton shelter that was 2 hours away and then they went to the shelter they were assigned to.I didn't have a hotel room assigned to me.A man named Jordon let me stay in his Motel room for two nights and he stayed in the shelter. Then I stayed one night on a cot in the shelter then they reassigned Jordon to another shelter and a new nurse Joanne came in his place.  

 

The team that first set up cots for the 150 people that were first brought in. 

It was about 35 to 40 when I got here. There some famines.There was a side part of the building that the EMS or EMT's used.

 

 There were only 30ish clients still in the shelter when I got there.

The medical area I was assigned to but we all helped were they needed us including the kitchen which I loved to help with.

Trip to Champain Illinoise to help my friend Carol Mahar empty her storage shed

 

Sept 10th day 1

Took these pictures of the bridge but the white spot above it we could only see in pictures. We decided it was an angle watching out for us. We saw a bad accident that took one hour to get through. 2 semi trucks and a crush vehicle. There was deb re all over the Freeway. Then a little while latter a car speed out around us then slammed on its breaks in front of us and stopped. Carol had to slam on breaks to avoid rear end crash and there was a semi truck in back of us that had to slam on his breaks to avoid hitting us. the car in front of us then speed away. We were being protected for sure and blessed.

Stayed at the Hampton Inn in Ogallala Nebraska

Sept 11th day2 Drove to Champaign, Illinois (Champaign is a city in central Illinois. On the sprawling University of Illinois campus) we stayed at the Fairfield - Marriott hotel for 5 days. It was late when we got there that first night and just went to bed.

Sept 12th day 3

 We visited a home Abraham Lincoln lived in and the law office building he worked in.

 drove around the town and saw many houses carol had lived in and many of her friends.

Sept 13th day 4

Danny's High school football game. Danny is number 17. They lost the games but Danny made an amazing touch down. Ran about 50 or 60 yards

We went to an amazing dinner before the game at "Apple Dumpling"

 

Sept 14th day 5

We had to park almost 2 miles from the gates to the football game and when we got to the check in spot they said we couldn't bring our purses in so we had to walk back to the truck and put our purses away and walk all the way back. we were so tired. It was so nice to get in and sit. we were at about the 50 yard line and that was great. It was so sunny that I was burning so I went and stood in the tunnel and watched. Carol came down about the 4th inning because of the heat. We saw many people leaving because of the sun and heat. We left early but Illinois won.

We walked around the campus and saw many wonderful buildings and statues.

Sept 15th day 6

 Worked on storage then then went and had a tortes ice crean with Danny then took him home . We then went on a site seeing trip to an Amish Town

Sept 16th day 7 Left Champaign Illinois and drove to Ogallala Nebraska. We stayed in the same Hampton Inn hotel we had stayed in that first night out.

Sept 17th day8 Came home in windy, rainy storms. Ate lunch at Little America. A very nice restaurant decorated in a lot of native American pictures and statues.  Came home to find a live snake in a sticky trap right by the front door.. I put oil on the trap to help release it and put it out in the back yard. It was able to get off
